Herbal Medicine For Health

Yang Herbs

In Chinese Medicine Yin & Yang are the foundations of diagnosis and treatment. This concept was first mentioned in the I Ching (Book of Changes) in 700 BC. It was hypothesized that Yin & Yang principles control all natural phenomena which constantly changes and is cyclically transformed. In essence Yin changes into Yang, and then it changes back into Yin — which is identical to the western concept of four seasons. Yin & Yang are polar opposites and become imbalanced when one weakens and the other is consumed which is the root-cause of diseases. Patients with Yang imbalances who visit western doctors commonly find that they are unable to determine any cause for their symptoms. Western medicine considers Yin problems to be associated with hormone and brain neurotransmitter imbalances.

Yin & Yang imbalances may result in either excess or deficiency conditions. Yin deficiencies cause hot symptoms that include restlessness and anxiety, while Yin excess causes cold sluggishness. Yang deficiencies cause cold symptoms with diminished function and fatigue, while Yang excess results in hot overactivity.

Heart, Lung, Liver, Spleen and Kidney functions which store blood, body Fluids and essence. Yin organs are solid and store and conserve but do not digest or circuculate.

Yang Light, Male, Heat, Transform and Change.

Yang Organs
Small & large Intestines, gall Bladder, stomach and bladder which constantly transform, transport and excrete digestive waste. Yang Organs are hollow, receive and circulate but do not store.

Yang Symptoms Excess, hyper, restlessness, acute rapid onset, red face, loud voice non-talkative, excess thirst & likes cold drinks, scant dark urine, consitpation, excess dryness, inflammatory diseases and red tongues.

Yin, Yang, Harmony & Balance
Western doctors tend to treat single organs while herbal medicines treat the whole body. Like an Orchestra your kidneys, liver, spleen, lungs, pancreas and heart must work in harmony to generate vital Qi energy and health. When one organ malfunctions all others are effected and herbal medicines restore health by harmonizing all the body's organs. Chinese medicine formulas almost never contain single herbs, instead synergistic formulas with multiple herbs are used to make them more effective than single herbs. Many contain "adaptagens" which reduce activity in overactive organs and increase activity in underactive organs to balance Yin & Yang and normalize health.

Yan Vive Tablets / Jin Kui Shen Qi Wan
Rhemannia Root Formula
  Information Resources

Yan Vive is based on the Chinese formula Jin Gui Shen Qi Wan. It is also known as Ba Wei Di Huang Wan (BDW), Rhemannia Eight and Hachimi-jio-gan (HJ) in Japanese. The formula contains additional herbs that replenish kidney Yin (structure) along with kidney Yang (function). Yan Vive is an important supplement for those over 40 and many older people in Asia use it to improve mental function, increase stamina, ease fatigue, improve blood circulation, reduce cold sensations and improve muscle weakness. Japanese research at the Tohoku University School of Medicine indicates Yan Vive supports mental functioning and dementia without side effects. Another Japanese study suggested that it enhances the choline acetyltransferase activity and increases the acetylcholine content of the frontal cortex of the brain.

In Chinese Medicine Yan Vive is used to restore the kidneys Yang (function). In TCM the kidneys are the master organ which support all other organs to balance Yin, Yang, Qi etc. so healthy kidney structure is paramount to health. Chinese research indicates Yan Vive promotes healthy kidney functioning, hormone regulation, T-lymphocyte production, cytokine regulation and healthy immune systems. Other benefits include increased sex and adrenal cortical hormone production, reduced blood glucose levels (Diabetes support), and increased superoxide dismtase activity (SOD).

You Gui Tablets / Rehmannia Root Formula   Information Resources

You Gui Wan is a 400 year old formula commonly used to treat impotence and male infertility which is viewed as a deficiency of Kidney Yang. Yang is the male (positive) principle of Yin-Yang, while Yin is the womanish (negative) principle. Since the Kidneys are at the core foundation of all organs with respect to Yin, Yang and Qi — You Gui Wan helps to replenish vital Kidney Yang essence and enrich the blood to relieve impotence among other health conditions. You Gui Wan is indicated for people whose symptoms include cold legs.

The therapeutic actions of You Gui Wan remain unclear, similar to many botancial compounds and synthetic drugs. Chinese research suggests that it may increase male testosterone production and cytokines such as gamma-interferon which is believed to support healthy immune function. One study suggested it increases low sperm counts and in 45%-83% patients fertility was returned after taking You Gui Wan for 2-4 months. In another study You Gui Wan was reported to be effective in improving Osterporosis symptoms in 96.2% patients after 6-8 months of use.

You Gui Wan is similar to YounGain, and YanVive because they all nourish Kidney Yang but vary in strength. YounGain is strongest, followed by You Gui Wan with YanVive being mildest. Zuo Gui Wan another Rhemannia formula nourishes Kidney Yin and is appropriate when symptoms include low-grade fever or sweating,
